Eugene John Candish was born[1] on Saturday, 28th May 1921, the son of Harold John Candish and Ruby Adelaide (Wood) Candish, at Bowral, New South Wales, Australia.

Eugene John Candish
MISSING IN AIR OPERATIONS
Sergeant Observer Eugene John Candish, only son of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Candish of Cowper-street. Wallsend, has been reported missing after R.A.F. air operations over Germany on the night of May 4. He was a member of a Lancaster bomber crew.
Sergeant Candish. who is in his 22nd year, completed his training in England. Before going to England, he was in New Zealand, following the earlier stages of his training, in Victoria and South Australia. On the R.A.A.F. reserve list, he was called up for enlistment in July, 1941, and went overseas about a year later. Before enlisting he was employed in his father's service station. He was educated under his father, formerly a schoolmaster, and later at Maitland Boys' High School.

Eugene passed away[5] on Wednesday, 5th May 1943 at Germany, aged 21 years, 11 months, 8 days, and is interred[6] at Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Kleves, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, Plot III, Row A, Grave 4.
