Edith Cresson (born Edith Campion) is a French politician. She is the first, and so far only, woman to have held the office of Prime Minister of France. She was appointed by President François Mitterrand on 15 May 1991 and left office in April 1992.
She was married to businessman Jacques Cresson, who died in 2001.
Édith Cresson, née Campion, est une femme d'État française. Elle a Première ministre du 15 mai 1991 au 2 avril 1992, sous la présidence de François Mitterrand, ce qui fait d'elle la première (et la seule à ce jour) femme à avoir été chef de gouvernement en France.
Elle était mariée à l'homme d'affaires et chef d'entreprise Jacques Cresson, décédé en 2001.
