John was born in about 1770. He was wounded and invalided during the American Civil war, and his wife Charlotte, (his fourth cousin) who he married in Inverary, Scotland in 1796, [1] received a pension after his death. [2]
At the time if his death in 1809 he was Member of Parliament for the Ayr Boroughs. [3]
