Biography

Frederick or Fred as he was known, was born 30 May 1876 in North Shields, Northumberland, England, to parents Arthur Robert Campbell and Lucy Lee (Bapty) Campbell.

At age 5 his father passed away whilst the family was living in India and Fred, his sister Hilda, and mother Lucy, subsequently returned to England. Fred's mother remarried in 1884 so he was brought up for the majority of his childhood by his mother and step-father.

At age 23 he married Annie Lucy Skipwith Firth, second daughter of Rosamond Francis Nicholson and Walter Gray Firth.

In 1912 he and Annie and their 4 children immigrated to Australia where they initially settled in Perth but 4-5 years later moved to Melbourne where they eventually settled in the suburb of Essendon.

Fred passed away on 17 October 1945 at the age of 69.^[1] His remains were cremated in Fawkner on 19 October 1945.
