Henry Cambie is/was a significant British Columbian.

Henry was born in 1836. He was the son of Charles Cambie and Jane Disney.

The Cambie family moved to Canada in 1852. He became a land surveyor for the government of Upper Canada (which was later Ontario). Henry went on to be a major figure in the railway construction in Canada. He came to British Columbia in 1874, where he did survey work and project management, working his way up to engineer for the CPR's Pacific Division (1886-1902), and special assistant engineer in 1903.

He married Helen Elizabeth Fay in 1870.[1] She passed away in 1900.

In 1901, he was living with his children, Kellie Cambie (27), Henry B Cambie (23), Ida J Cambie (20), Frances G Cambie (15), and his cousin, Helen M Fay.[2]

In 1911, he was living with two of his daughters, Ida Jean Cambie (30) and Geraldine Francis Cambie (26).[3]

He retired in 1920. He passed away in 1928.[4]
