  2. WEDDING REPORT. COUNTRY FAMILIES UNITED. Calvert—Shoobridge. The marriage of Pauline Willis, youngest daughter of Mr. K. L. Shoobridge, of Coniston, Glenora, and Lieut. Marcus McKay Calvert, A.I.F., son of Mr. and Mrs. John Calvert, Cambridge, took place at St. David's Cathedral, Hobart, last night. Mr. Shoobridge gave away his daughter, and the Rev. M. J. May performed the ceremony. Dispensing with the traditional bridal array, the bride wore a short-sleeved frock of navy and while figured sheer mounted over navy taffeta. Tiny self-covered buttons ornamented the front of the bodice, which was caught at the neckline with a gold A.I.F. badge. Her hat of fine white straw, which was worn on one side of the head, had the rolled brim bound with navy and while spotted sheer, matching the upstanding bow at the back. In place of a bouquet she carried a white handbag, to which a spray of Regal lilies, was attached. Her sister, Mrs. Norman Hall, of Sheffield, England, was matron-of-honour, and wore a suit of black cloque woven with true lovers' knots. The fitted jacket, which had short sleeves, was edged at the neck with narrow white frilling. Her tiny toque was composed of black velvet and shaded pink flowers massed across the front, and a spray of carnations was fastened to her silver fox fur. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. W. Young. The ceremony was followed by an informal dinner party at Wrest Pt. Riviera Hotel, where immediate relatives only were entertained. Mrs. Shoobridge wore a black frock, which had a pleated bodice, a skunk cape, to which a cluster of blue and white hydrangea was pinned, and a wide brimmed black hat relieved with a gold ornament. The bridegroom's mother favoured a figured frock in a small multi-coloured design, a grey wool sheer coat, and a navy straw hat. Lieut, and Mrs. Calvert will leave shortly for the Mainland. Mrs. Calvert will reside in Albury until her husband leaves for service overseas. The Mercury (Hobart, Tas. : 1860 - 1954) Fri 3 Jan 1941, Page 4: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/25841202
