Jane was the daughter of Cleon Callis and Catherine (Smith) Callis and she born 30 January 1814. She married John Satterwhite on January 30, 1844 in Kentucky. They had two daughters, Martha (Satterwhite) Mann and Elizabeth (Satterwhite) Adcock.[1]
Jane Cosby Callis married Turner S. Allen on June 1, 1853 in Trimble County, Kentucky, [2] born in 1817, Jane was first married to John Mortimer Satterwhite. Turner's mother was John Mortimer Satterwhite's aunt; therefore, Turner and John were cousins.
Janes' grandfather, William Overton Callis is a "Notable" and was the son of William Harry Callis and Mary Jane Cosby. He was a childhood friend of future Presidents James Madison and James Monroe, was with Washington at Yorktown, and was known to Lafayette, Thomas Jefferson, and Benedict Arnold. [3]
She died before 15 Sep 1863.
