Thank-you. I am currently quite happy with the way things are. I would say that being English and living in England with a family history here back into the dark ages that would be my number one project but NZ is not far behind, I am ½ Kiwi. NZ history is not so long for anybody who isn’t Māori but mine does go right back to the first settlers in the 1840s so it is as embedded as you can get before it comes back to the UK with a dash of Northern Europe in the mix, but not enough yet to involve me in any other projects.

Carol

Thank you Carol - wow fascinating background! NZ, south island in particular, is probably my favourite place in the world to visit. Adore it. Glad you are happy! That's great to hear.

Regards, Susie

I noticed you answered this week’s question about New Zealand. The New Zealand Project is being re-activated. Would you like to be a member and have a badge? If so, please answer this post or message me. I’ll add your badge and also send you the link to the Kiwi Crew Discord server. There is no obligation to take part in challenges, but you may like to work with others to create quality New Zealand profiles. We’re a really friendly bunch.

Hi Fiona,

I’m already a member of the NZ project and have the badge so I am puzzled by your post? Yes I do wish to continue to be a member if that is what you are asking? Carol

So sorry, Carol, I was on a bit of a roll yesterday and didn't check your profile for a badge. If you would like to join the Kiwi Crew Discord server, please let me know.

Also, do you have any feedback on what the project is doing well and anything we could do better in the future? Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello Michael.

I'm happy with things as they are. We have just moved house so I have little free time at the moment but hope to continue expanding my tree in particular the Foothead and Kellington lines in the near future.

Hi Carol, I hope the house move went well and you will soon be ready for some Wikitree. Let me know if there is anything you need.

Best Regards Mike

Just beginning to start looking at things again now but apart from brick walls I’m OK 😋 One line I’m working on seemed to have an aversion to registering their children or doing the census which is proving a trial but I have found the odd reference in strange places so am currently ploughing through war records , newspapers and criminal registers. It is all good clean fun if frustrating.
OK good luck with it Carol and definitely have fun!

Hi Carol,

The United Kingdom Project has not been active since 2018 and we are now completely closing it down. We are removing all UK project badges. If you still have an interest in the UK and have not already joined another project, then you will need to join the England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales Project by answering one or more of their G2G posts. If your interest is in the British Isles and British Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories, then please contact me directly.

Regards Joan

When I joined it the England project was a subset of the UK project, it is the England project I actually belong to
Hi Carol,

It's that time of the year again: check-in time! As England Project Leaders, we like to check in with you every six months or so to see how things are progressing. Back in May, we didn't ask for a response due to the rapid emergence of Covid-19 because we understood that people's lives were changing rapidly. While we are still living in a Covid world, we do need to hear back from you this time around

First of all, how are you doing? What are you currently working on? Are you happy with the team(s) you're in, or would you like to change things up?

Secondly, we're looking for some feedback on the Google Group and our Discord server. Do you use either or both of these? If you don't use either, why not? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve participation and collaboration, either generally or for you personally?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Amy, Joan & Lizzie.

I’m quite happy with the way things are. At the moment I’m not working on anything much as we are in the middle of a house move and all my free time is involved in packing and sorting. Hopefully we will be in the new house by Christmas and life might start to get less hectic.

I started using the Discord groups as they were launched but not a lot seemed to be happening and then life got complicated so I haven’t been there for some time now. I don’t use the Google groups I found I was being inundated with emails that I didn’t have time to read and the weekly digests are really not much use.

Carol Gilbert

Hi Carol,

I'm glad that things are going well for you! It definitely sounds like a stressful time, but hopefully Christmas and the new year will be a more relaxing time for you.

Discord is being used much more regularly now, but in comparison to Google Groups - which is more oriented towards updates than consistent conversation - its more like a real-time chat room that you can pop in and out of when you feel like it. It definitely comes down to preference, but anything important which happens in the Discord will always be cross-posted to the Google Group - and, depending on specifics, to G2G as well most likely - so don't worry about missing anything :)

Feel free to get in touch down the line if there's anything I can do for you!

Regards, Amy

Hello Carol

Your England Leaders are completing the six monthly check in with all team members. Thank you for your work on English Profiles and your work in the Yorkshire and Surrey teams.

These are unprecedented and difficult times, and we understand as Project Leaders that your situation may have changed somewhat in the last few months. What we are all able to/ wish to contribute on Wikitree has changed. Please let me know if you are happy with your current role and team choice, or if you wish to do something additional or different. Thank you again on behalf of all the Project Leaders for everything you do.

Yes I am happy to keep things as they are. The internet is not helping at the moment though, with everyone home and using it for work/schooling it is very much slower and we are at the extreme end of the line so really suffer!
Hi Carol

I am just checking in with you as a member of the Yorkshire Team. We are entering the last 8 days of the England regional go Green Challenge reducing the suggestions, unsourced and unconnected numbers. On the 13th the Northern Region were in the lead for the challenge with drop of 16,728!

As your regional cheer leader - I am encouraging everyone to go go go

Good luck Janet :)

Hi Carol,

On behalf of the England Leaders, I wanted to say a huge thank you for all your contributions towards the project in the past six months as a Team Member for Yorkshire and Surrey. We've achieved a great deal during this time and we couldn't have done it without you.

Are you happy to stay in your current teams and the project as a whole? Are there any other teams you'd like to join? What are we doing well, and what would you like to see us doing differently moving forwards?

Please respond to this message via e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks,

Susie, England Project Leader :-)

Hello, Carol,

As part of a revitalization effort for the New Zealand Project, we are checking-in with members to see if they are planning to remain active and make project-specific contributions in the upcoming months.

If you have other obligations at the moment and would like to be removed from the project at this time, you will always be welcome to rejoin if you find yourself with more time and interest later.

All of us at WikiTree would like to thank you for your contributions and hope that you are enjoying exploring your roots.

Please respond by commenting on my profile or sending a private message. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi Carol,

We realise the time has come to dissolve the UK Project in favour of the individual country projects of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

We are checking in with all UK badge holders to find out which country project(s) you would like to be in so you can collaborate with other members, have the opportunity to select which team(s) you would like to join, and so we can ensure you have all the correct badges.

Please respond by PM to let us know which country project(s) you would like to be in. Please don’t assume we know. We are effectively starting from scratch to make sure no one falls through the cracks.

Once you have done this, the Coordinator for Membership in the relevant country project(s) will be in touch to help get you situated.

Many thanks,

Susie

Hi Carol,

On behalf of the England Project Leaders we're carrying out a check-in to see how all the members are doing and taking the opportunity to thank you for all your hard work over the past six months. We have been so impressed with the way everyone has rallied together and gone the extra mile to make this one of the most dedicated, productive and friendly communities on WikiTree. What are you enjoying most about being in the project? What would you like to see improved or changed? Would you like to continue in the project moving forwards?

We're looking forward to hearing back from you,

Hi Carol

Just checking in to see if you are ok :)

It has been 3 weeks since I posted a message on your profile and I have not had any feedback from you.

If I don't hear from you by the weekend, I will presume you no longer wish to be involved in the England Project.

I will then go ahead and remove you from the project and remove the badge.

Hope to hear from you soon :)

Thanks,

Hi Carol,

Have you seen this post on G2G. https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/639987/york-minister-organist-profiles-could-use-some-tlc It refers to a family of York Minster Organists. The England Project had adopted Camage-7. I am looking for members from the Yorkshire team to work on the family. Would you be willing to help please.

Joan

Hi Carol,

I have just taken over as team leader for Yorkshire. I just wanted to say Hello. I am Yorkshire born and have lived just outside Barnsley all my life and I have strong Yorkshire connections. I am passionate about the county and love it. I hope that we will be able to work well as a team. I can see you also have Yorkshire roots too. Could you please let me know what you are working on at the moment. I would like to be able to work out priorities and avoid duplication of work. I am looking forward to working with you.

Regards Joan

Hi Carol

You have received the England badge for being an active member of the England Project.

Thank you!!
