Biography

Cameron Welles Callin Sr. was the son of Welles Callin and Marion Silvernale, born on 29 Jun 1912 in Fostoria, Seneca County, Ohio, and spent his childhood in Montana. After his father died, his mother remarried, and Cam and his brothers lived in Seattle, King County, Washington. Cam attended West Seattle High School in 1928, but graduated from Franklin High School in 1932, where he played on the football team.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Cameron married Theresa Louise Taylor on 14 Apr 1934 in King County, Washington. Theresa was the daughter of David Peter Taylor (1859–1933) and Louise Ploehn (1884–1945), born on 27 Jan 1914 and raised in Seattle, King County, Washington. She graduated from Franklin High School in Seattle in 1932.[7][8][9]

Theresa and Cam had a son together and lived in Seattle until they divorced about 1943.[10][11]

Cam married Alyce Annetta Risdon on 29 Jun 1944 in King County, Washington. Alyce was the daughter of Ivan Risdon (1886–1964) and Alyce G Kiel (1903–1954), born on 23 Oct 1921 and raised in Seattle, King County, Washington. They lived in Seattle and raised a daughter together.[12][13][14]

Cam died on 18 Jul 1968 at age 56 and was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Seattle, King County, Washington. His obituary appeared in the Seattle Daily Times on 20 Jul 1968.[15][16][17]

“Funeral services for Cameron W. Callin, 58, will be Monday at St. Paul's of Shorewood Lutheran Church. Cremation will be directed by West Home Chapel. Mr. Callin, a senior supervisor for The Boeing Company Airplane Division, died of a heart ailment Thursday in a Seattle hospital. Born in Fostoria, Ohio, Mr. Callen came to Seattle 44 years ago. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1933 and was an all-city football half-back two years. He later played three years with the West Seattle Yellowjackets, a semi-pro football team. Mr. Callin was with The Boeing Company 28 years and was a member of the Moose. Surviving are his wife, Alyce and a daughter Linda Callin, at the home; a son Cameron W. Callin, Jr., Vancouver, WA; his mother, Mrs. Marion Symth, Hemet, CA; a sister, Mrs. Marion Blake, Seattle; two brothers, John, Sun Valley, CA and Charles Callin, Hemet, CA; and two half-brothers, Roger and Faus Smith, Hemet, CA. The family suggested remembrances to the Heart Fund.”
