Biography

Emma was born in 1808, in Charlotte County, Virginia. She was the daughter of William Henry Cabell and his 2nd wife, Agnes Sarah Bell Gamble. Her father was the 14th Governor of Virginia.

On 9 May 1826, she married Paul Sydenham Carrington. They settled in Charlotte and had 8 children, 6 of which were sons who joined the C.S.A, 2 who died in battle and one who died shortly after returning home.
