Biography
Ida Maria Bäckman was born on October 9, 1860 in Mölnbacka bruk in Nedre Ullerud parish, Värmland, Sweden. She was the daughter of smith Johan Bäckman and and his wife Ingeborg Olsdotter.
She married into the Ullman family when she came to America. They were another smith family from the same Swedish region as her. Her husband Johan Ullman had emigrated in the spring of 1880, and his parents and siblings followed in October, 1880.
Ida Maria and Johan lived in Worchester in Worchester County, Massachusetts. They had nine children: Arthur b. 1883, Carl Ernest b. 1886, Ernest E (1887-1905), Hilda C (1889-1890), Carl John b. 1891, Harry b. 1894, Esther J b. 1897, girl (1898-1898) and David O b. 1899.
