Frederic was born in Bishop Monkton, Yorkshire, England, on June 25, 1858. [1] His birth was registered in Ripon. He was the son of John Butterfield and Ann Stowell. He was baptized on September 26, 1858, in Bishop Monkton, at St John the Baptist.[2] He was enumerated in the 1861 census [3]as a two year old residing with his parents and two siblings in Bishop Monkton. His father was a "Paper Manufacturer". He was the oldest of five children residing with his parents at Park House, Bishop Monkton, in 1871.[4]
Frederic married Marianne Harrison in 1883.[5] The marriage was registered in the first quarter in Hexham, Northumberland. The couple would have three children. They appeared in the 1891 census [6] residing at Freedom Mill, Bishop Monkton with children Mary, age five, and Thomas, two. Their third child, Frederic, would be born in 1900. Frederic's occupation "Paper Manufacturer". His sisters Annie and Beatrice also at residence. The family remained in Bishop Monkton and were enumerated there in the 1901, [7] and 1911 census [8]
Frederic passed away on February 15, 1934. [9] He was buried at St John the Baptist Churchyard, Bishop Monkton.[10] His Probate was administered on April 27, 1934 in London naming George Woolnough Goss, retired bank manager, and Percy Bruce Elliot, bank manager.[11] He was seventy five.
