Maynard was a good boy, kind and loving to his parents, brother, sister, and in fact to everyone. He was cut down in Youth’s Bright Morn, but “God’s will be done, not ours.” He leaves a father, mother, one brother, one sister and a host of friends to mourn his departure. He was one of Wayne County’s young and successful teachers, having received his education in this county and at the State Normal at Normal, Ill. Rev. W.C. Cissna conducted the funeral service, Tuesday at Mount Olive church and the body was laid to rest in the Mount Olive cemetery. Asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep. Where none shall ever wake to weep. Maynard attended Illinois State University and became a teacher. He died of an appendicitis because he refused to have surgery.
