Biography
Leonard was born 14 Dec 1849 in Alabama.
In June 1880 he was living in Falls, Texas.[1] The household included E P Kinard 46, son Lavell B Kinard 14, son Charles W Kinard 11, niece Edith M Fortuna 13 and boarder Robert L Butler 29. E P was a widow and was keeping house. Robert was a farmer.
Edith M Fortune and Leonard Butler were married 29 Sep 1880 in Falls, Texas.[2] On 16 Aug 1880 Jno A Fortune granted permission for Mr. L. R. Butler to marry his daughter.
In 1900 she was living in Justice Precinct 2 (west & north part), Falls, Texas.[3] The household included Leonard Butler 51, wife Edith M Butler 34, son Andrew P Butler 19, daughter Martha E Butler 17 and son Charles R Butler 14. Leonard and Edith had been married 19 years. Edith was the mother of 3 children, all living. Leonard was a farmer. The children were at school.
He died from exhaustion as a result of sporatic cholera on 11 Aug 1905 in Reagan, Falls, Texas.[4]
He is buried in Blue Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Blue Ridge, Falls County, Texas.[5]
