Civil War
He was a Corporal in the 2nd Wisconsin Infantry in Company B which was part of the famous "Iron Brigade" that fought during the Civil War. He was wounded at 1st Bull Run, Gettysburg, and again at the Wilderness where he was captured as well. He was transferred to Andersonville POW camp where he died on September 12, 1864.
