Biography

Donald was the son of Charlotte Jackson (1907-1982) and Clarence Cecil Bush (1898-1954). He was born at Brown City, Sanilac County, Michigan on 27 September 1931, although both of his parents were originally from Ontario, Canada. By 1935 his parents had divorced and Don and his mother and older sister moved to Canada where he was raised.

Don joined the Air Force and met his wife Norma Thrasher in Summerland, PEI, when he was stationed there. Don and Norma migrated west to Calgary, Alberta where Don worked as a salesman (see Henderson Directories below). They lived first in Hillhurst-Sunnyside, then moved to Bridgeland-Riverside. The couple had six children who were quite athletic and Don and Norma were highly involved with their children's activities.

Unfortunately Norma died in 1974 at the age of 44.

BUSH, Donald (Don) Fredrick

September 27, 1931-May 17, 2012

Don Bush passed away peacefully at the Beverly Care Centre on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the age of 80 years. Don was born in Brown City, Michigan but moved to Canada at a young age and grew up in Ontario. During his service with the Canadian Air Force, he met and later married Norma Pauline Thrasher, when they were both stationed at Summerside, PEI. Don and Norma moved out west to Calgary in the early 1950s. It was in Calgary that Don and Norma raised their six children. Don was an active member of the community. For many years he was involved with the Calgary J-C's, the NE Hockey Association, the Calgary Federation of Communities and the Calgary Real Estate Board. Don enjoyed watching his children play their different sports but always had a passion for hockey, which five of his six children played. He was very proud of all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don is survived by his children.... He was predeceased by his wife Norma and son Douglas. A Celebration of Don's Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, May 21, 2102 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to thank the staff at the Beverly Care Centre for their loving care and compassion that they showed Don in his final days. May God bless his path as his spirit moves on and his love and memories are left behind. In living memory of Donald Bush, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
