He was not listed as a son of Edward Burton in the Burton Pedigree in the Visitation of Shropshire.[1]
While there appear to be sources, they are not conclusive in the historical documents such as The Genealogy of the John Pleasant Burton Family, Burton Chronicles of Colonial Virginia and Burton Family Website.

To match the "story" of his fathers death in Nov 1558 (Suggestion-210; no official document), I am changing the birth date to before 1559, Find A Grave, appears to be an estimate without a primary source. No change in death date. Parents are Ann Maddocks and Edward Burton

I added the information on the 2nd wife, and in doing that, I realized that the way his profile is right now, he married the first time at 14 years old and had his first child at 16? I have found other sources with his birthdate of 1555. Also, with this marriage data, it would seem that Richard's mother is Margaret, not Katherine.

All the information I have on Francis Burton at this time is born about 1560 in England and also died in England. I do not know anything further than that at this time and this information was provided to me by a research done by one of my cousins. Thank you and sorry for the confusion. Connie

I noticed that you approved this merge, I put it as an unmatched merge because the fathers are different and the wives are different. without sources, I have no idea if these are the same people. Can you please provide sources so that we can decide which father is correct and whether Francis had 2 wives. Thank you.
