Sir Edward Burton, Knight Banneret[1]

The parents of Sir Edward Burton are unknown, although Burke[2] appears to suggest that Edward originated from Yorkshire and that his father may have been a William Burton living in the reign of Henry VI.

His year of birth is unknown and is estimated as c 1420.

Sir Edward Burton, was made Knight Banneret in 1460.[1][2][3][4]

“Sir Edward Burton for his services to the House of York in 14 battles, had the singular honour of Knight banneret conferred upon him by Edward IV. In 1460 after the battle of St Albans. Sir Edward settled at Longner co Salop and from him descended his son, Sir Robert Burton, knt, had the first grant of arms May 23 1478; his son Edward m. Research Notes

The earliest generation in the Burton of Longnor pedigree in the Visitation of Shropshire is the grandson of this Edward Burton, i.e. Edward Burton Esq. who married Joyce, surname uncertain.[6] The pedigree states, incorrectly, that the Edward Burton who married Joyce was made Knight Banneret.

Burton-1614 and Burton-328 appear to represent the same person because: Either these two persons are the same or the profile of Burton-1614 needs to be reviewed and the references to Robert and Longnor removed as belonging instead to Burton-328, the Burton family associated with Poyner and Barker.
I am afraid these profiles are not in a state to be merged. Quite a bit of research needs to be done before a merge can be considered. See Jack Day's comment of September 2018 on Burton-1614 when this merge was previously proposed. If anyone wants to undertake this research, great!

Burton-1614 and Burton-328 appear to represent the same person because: This Sir Edward Burton was the Knight Banneret in 1460. The sources identified thus far only indicate a son Robert.

I think they should be merged and county changed to right one. They are the same person . I adopted 1614 and read alot

on it but can't work on it. I never could find source for his parents though
