Raymond Herbert Burton was born on 30 January 1925 in Tennessee, United States, son of Paul Oliver Burton (1890–1971) and Mary Lenoir (1889–1974).

In 1940, Ray (15) was in the household of Paul Burton in San Bernardino Judicial Township, San Bernardino. [2]
Raymond (30) married Janette Morgenstern (29) (born on 8 December 1925 in San Francisco, California; daughter of Marion (Rosenthal) Morgenstern) on 16 September 1955 in California. Their son was Clifford Lee Burton (1962–1986).
Raymond passed away on 15 January 2020 in California, aged 94.[3]
