Melbourne Burroughs was born in Peterborough, Northamptonshire, England.

Melbourne Burroughs was born 25 March 1910, in Peterborough, Northamptonshire, England, the eldest son of Sidney Burroughs and his wife Lettie née Palmer^[1]

On 2 April 1911, the Burroughs family — consisting of Sidney (28), a shunter with G E Railway, Letty (25), Rose (6), Minnie (3), and Melbourne (10 — was living at 58 Tower Street, Peterborough. ^[2]

He married Mabel Elizabeth Dorothy Pocock on 1 August 1936 (August Bank Holiday), in the Wentworth Street Methodist Church, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire (traditionally Northamptonshire).^[3] Their son Peter was born in 1947.

In the 1939 register, Melbourne (age 29), a provision salesman, was living with Mabel (age 24), at 20 Oundle Road, Peterborough, Northamptonshire.^[4]

Melbourne Burroughs, of 49 Chatsworth Road, Hunstanton, Norfolk, passed away 15 October 1989, with the event being registered in the 4th Quarter at King's Lynn.^[5]

In his will, administration of which was approved on 20 June 1990, he left effects to the value of 100,000£^[6]
