Lee David Burris was born on 22 January 1925 in Indianola, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, United States, son of Robert B. Burris (1896–1970) and Nannie Bell Forrester (1895–1979).

He served as an enlistee in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1943-1946, serving in the South Pacific and Australia. He served in the U.S. Army as a Grace Brethren Chaplain from 1958 to 1976, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel, followed by pastorates in Ohio and California.
Lee (age 25), son of Robert Buriss & Nannie Forrester, married Lois Mary Paxton (FamilySearch profile) (age 22) on 10 June 1950 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California, United States.[4]
He served two tours in Vietnam from 1966-1967 (Cam Ranh Bay) and 1969-1970 (Phu Bai). He received the Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal with four campaign stars.
Lee died on 4 August 2007 in Sacramento, Sacramento County, California, United States, aged 82. He was buried in Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, Solano County, California, USA (plot: Section 2 Plot 980).[5]
