Roll of Honor
Private John Burns was a Prisoner of War during the United States Civil War.

John Burns died as a POW in Camp Butler. He has not be positively identified in the 1850 or 1860 census. Its possible he came from another county to enlist, as the John Burns who are listed in Union County would have only been about 15 at the most at the time of enlistment, or over 65. To add to the confusion of this, another John Burn/e/s joined the 2nd AR Inf at age 25.
