Biography

Stephen was born in 1904.[1] He was the son of Henry Burman and Marion France.

In 1911 he lived with his parents in Edgbaston, Warwickshire, England.[2]

In 1931 he married Joan Margaret Rogers.[3]

In 1939 he lived in Edgbaston, Warwickshire, England as a general manager of an engineer and manufacture of precision components (Burman and Sons Ltd).[4]

In 1943 he was awarded a MBE as the Divisional Officer, Midland Region, National Fire Service.[5]

In 1953 he became the Managing Director of Burman and Sons Ltd.[6]

In 1954 he was awarded a CBE for services lately Chairman, now Vice-Chairman, Board of Governors of the United Birmingham Hospitals.[7]

In 1973 he was awarded Knight Batchelor for services to the University of Birmingham.[8]

He passed away in 1992.[9]

His probate reads, Burman Sir Stephen France of Highover 12 Cherry Tree Rd Barnt Green Birmingham died 16 December 1992. Probate Birmingham 28 June. £2,252,907.[10]
