Hello! About half of my ancestry is primarily English, going back to Colonial America, before the Revolutionary War. A quarter of my ancestry is Puerto Rican, and the remaining quarter is made up of more recent immigrants from Southern Germany, Scotland, and Ireland. Within my colonial ancestry, I have at least two Dutch lines (Daharsh and Meeker), a handful of Irish lines, a few Scottish, a few Northern German, and a couple of distant Welsh lines.
Random facts!
My surname was originally spelled Burkhardt and is German. The 'd' was dropped by my great grandfather during World War I, when German ancestry became unpopular.
Everyone with the name Belaski from Hawaii is probably related to me. Belaski is a mistranslation of the name Velazquez based on the way it is pronounced in Puerto Rican Spanish.
I am directly descended from...

Im Karen, the leader of the Puerto Rican Roots Project. We are contacting all existing members of the project to find out how you would like to be involved moving forward. I'd love to hear what excites you about researching folks connected to Puerto Rico, and how the revitalization of the project might inspire you in 2018. Have a look at the Puerto Rican Roots Project page, and let me know what youd like to do or if you have any questions. We can list your interests, help you join the Google Groups forum for Puerto Rico, and give you any help you might need. If we dont hear back from you well assume you no longer want to be a part of the Puerto Rican Roots Project at this time.
Many thanks! I look forward to hearing from you.
Karen :-)
Have fun, and let me know if you need any help. As your team Captain, I'm here for whatever you need! Hope to see you posting soon! Have a great day! - Summer
"If you can establish a relationship with the Church Secretary, you may be able to obtain more recent information over the phone. Most parishes close between 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m. for lunch. So, you should call between 8:00 and 12:00 and 2:00 pm. to 5:00. Nuestra Señora de Monserrate can even be reached by fax. Each copy of the baptismal or marriage certificates cost approx. bet. $3.00 to 5.00 depending on the parish.

My brother and I are clearly full siblings at 2,635.8 cM, and his y-DNA is confirmed with a fourth cousin Charles Lowe, so I've confirmed my relationship with my father. I haven't confirmed with my mother's father or father's mother since I don't have tests for any close relatives there.
It's so great that you've tested and are willing to share your GEDmatch info! Have you invited any of your close matches to view your tree here? There's a handy email template at this page for pointing folks to your tree here.

We use the "confirmed with DNA" option when a person's descent from an ancestor is confirmed by two or more y-DNA or mtDNA tests or three or more autosomal DNA tests sharing a common segment on a specific chromosome with each other. See this page on the DNA project for the templates we use to show our proof of lineage with y-DNA and mtDNA.
If you are the only descendant of these ancestors who's tested, please remove the "confirmed with DNA" setting as your test will automatically appear on their profiles.
Thanks!
