George died on 25 March 1940 and was buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Saline County, Nebraska, United States.[3]
George H. Burden, unmarried, aged 60 years, a lifetime resident of Nebraska, died in Lincoln, on Monday, March 25th.
George H. Burden, the oldest son of Henry Burden, a pioneer of Saline County, who purchased a quarter section of land south of Pleasant Hill, in early days. In early life, Mr. Burton homesteaded a farm in South Dakota and returned to South Dakota each fall for many years for the corn husking season and for many years spent his summers working on farms in and about Dorchester. The last years of his life were spent in Lincoln, where he was the owner of a small acreage and he was employed by the Lincoln Hotel as a porter at the time of his death.
The Burden family were residents of Saline County from about the year 1876 to the year 1913 when the original farm was sold. His father was a Civil War veteran and had a very good army record. Eight children were born to Henry Burden and his wife, seven of whom grew to manhood and womanhood.
George H. Burden will be buried in the Pleasant Hill cemetery on Friday, March 29. The funeral services will be held on the arrival of the body from Lincoln which will be about 2:30 p.m.[4]
