Biography

The son of Henry Moses Bunn (1861-1919) and Fay Irene Anderson (1865-1920), Cecil Bunn was born in Stevenson, Tennessee[citation needed] in 1890, residing there with his family.[1][2] His siblings included:

  1. Claudia Lee Bunn (1886-1964)
  2. Flossie May Bunn (1892-1969)
  3. Lorena Belle Bunn (1894-1999)
  4. Paul Anderson Bunn (1895-1918)

Cecil registered for the World War I draft when he was 27, registering in Chattanooga, Tennessee on June 5, 1917.[3] He stated that he lived on Duncan Street in Chattanooga and that he was in charge of laundry at the United States Government Military Training Camp in Chattanooga. Cecil was described as a man of medium height and build with black hair and grey eyes.

Cecil was drafted and ordered to report for the local board for military duty. He was inducted into military service at Fort Thomas, Kentucky on May 24, 1918, and was assigned to clerical work.[4][5][6][7] Having served for nearly eight months as a Private in Headquarters Company of a Field Artillery regiment, Cecil was discharged on the United States Army on December 13, 1918.[8]

Cecil returned to Franklin County, Tennessee, where his father passed away in 1919. In 1920, Cecil lived with his mother and his siblings in Civil District 12, where he owned and operated a retail store.[9]

Cecil married Lucille Annabelle (Meredith) Bunn, marrying in Wayne County, Tennessee on January 4, 1922,[10] having two children together. They made their home together in Civil District 12, where he continued to work as a retail merchant.[11]

His marriage ended in divorce and in 1940, Cecil lodged at the Crawford House in Winchester Township, Tennessee, not working, having moved there from Sherwood, Tennessee.[12] Cecil Bunn passed away at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee[13] at the age of 58. According to the death certificate, his remains were to be removed to Stevenson, Tennessee.
