William Bufton married Hannah Wiltshire on 8 June 1840 at Bromsgrove, Worcester, England. Fathers George Bufton and William Wilkshire. [1]

On 6 June 1841 William Bufton (20) Soap Boiler & wife Hannah Bufton (20) lived in Rock Hill, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, England. [2] with Christopher Burson (13), Isaac Burton (25) Blacksmith & Ann Berton (30).

Son William was Baptised at Bromsgrove, Worcester on 27 March 1842. [3]

William Bufton (42) Soap Boiler was charged with Larceny by Servant (for stealing Tallow and soap) along with Edward Masters for Receiving. They were both sentenced to 10 years on 28 October 1850 at Southampton Borough Quarter Sessions, Hampshire. [4]

On 30 October 1851 he was transported from London having been in Pentonville Prison (transferred from Portsmouth) to the penal colony of Western Australia on the ship 'Marion' with 280 passengers. [5] He arrived on the 'Marion' as a transported convict, Convict No 1032, on 30 January 1852.

He was described as 5'6.5" tall, dark hair, light brown eyes, dark complexion and of stout build w/no distinguishing marks. He was married with 5 children and was a Protestant. [6] [7] [8]

Daughters Susannah was born in 1854 in Western Australia, Australia [9] and Harriet was Baptised in Perth, Western Australia in 1858. [10]

Perth Police Report 2 January 1855 - William Bufton for calling Thomas Cyril Felix Alexander David, ticket-of-leave writing clerk, in the Ministry of Works Office, by the name of " DON FRISC0," fined 5s. 6d[11]


At the Perth Police Court in September 1860 W. Bufton, c.p., allowing a cow to graze in St. George's Terrace, fined 7s 9d.[12]

In August 1861 William Bufton c.p. was fined 5s. for drunkenness at the Perth Police Court before T. N. Yule, Esq., Police Magistrate.[13]

He passed away in 1870 [14] and was buried at the East Perth Cemeteries. [15]
