Biography

Virginias B. Bryant was born 11 Dec 1911 in South Portland, Cumberland, Maine. She was the daughter of Charles Chester Bryant and Florence Belle (Oliver) Bryant.^[1][2] She married Albert Ray Marr (son of Seymour C. Marr and Julia (Hall) Marr) 6 Jan 1932 in Portsmouth, Rockingham, New Hampshire,^[3] Albert passed away 2 Jul 1998. Virginia passed away 20 Mar 2006 in South Portland, Cumberland, Maine.^[4]

Note: The birth record gives no first name, but the 1930 Census of her father and 2nd wife Inez with a Virginia B. Bryant Age 18, which fits with her 1911 birth date. Virginia's obituary also lists her birthdate as 11 Dec 1911. Her mother Florence passed away in 1916.

She was educated in the South Portland Schools and graduated in class of 1929. She also was a graduate of the Nursing School at Augusta General Hospital. Virginia was a registered nurse and was employed at the Maine Medical Center for 20 years. She also was an instructor at the Maine School of Practical Nursing for 10 years. She was a member of the Thornton Heights Methodist Church in South Portland and a former member of the American Nurses Association. She was predeceased by her was her husband, A. Ray Marr in 1998. Surviving is a sister, Martha Bryant of Portland; three nieces, Patricia Brown of Cape Coral, Fla., Virginia Hanson of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Norma W. Piper of Damariscotta; and a sister-in-law, Velma Nurse of South Portland. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to: The V.N.A.
