In the 1850 census Thomas was possibly in the Northern District of Bedford County, Virginia although in the previous censuses he was not a slave holder. This record is noted as being a Va 1850 Slave Schedule.[6] Part of the area considered the Northern section of Bedford County today (Big Island maybe to Forest) is close or borders on Lynchburg that is in Campbell County. Research Notes
This profile got added automatically as Unknown Bruce when I added Meredith Bruce as a brother to Richard Bruce. So I have added what I know to give this guy some substance, but unfortunately I don't have sources other than what another Bruce family researcher told me.
The record of his death says he died of old age at age 100. More research needs to be done on his birth. ~~ Mae Newton, July 21, 2020.
This Tabitha Mustain could be his mother. ~~Mae Newton, 22 July 2020. Note: per managers of James Bruce (1761-1831), spouse of Tabitha Mustain, if a child was not listed in the court record shown on that family group, then they were not of that family. As far as I read there was no Thomas Bruce listed in that record. However, in the 1814 Pittsylvania County, Virginia will of James Bruce, spouse of Tabitha Unknown, there is a Thomas Bruce listed as his son. BJS
He was married twice, to Edith "Edy" Thurman and then to [[Brim-246|Sally (profile created as Susan) Brim (who survived him and remarried Leonard Edelin).[citation needed]
