David was born in 1830. He was the son of Peter Bruce and May Lamb.

He passed away in 1876 at the age of 46. David Bruce boiler maker age 46 died 9 Aug 1876 at Little Elizabeth Street, Richmond, Victoria and buried at Carlton North, son of Peter Bruce mariner and May nee Lamb. ^[1] Funeral Notices, ORDER ST. ANDREW Richmond Lodge.— The Members of this Lodge, and the order generally, are hereby invited to follow the remains of our late brother, DAVID BRUCE, to their last resting place, in the Melbourne General Cemetery. The funeral to move from his late residence, Little Elizabeth-street, North Richmond, on Monday, the 21st, at 2 p.m. ^[2] He is buried at Melbourne General Cemetery.
