Peggy (Brownrigg) Burrow was born in Cumberland, England.

Margaret (also Peggy) Brownrigg, daughter of John Brownrigg (bef.1746-1820) and Eleanor (Turner) Brownrigg (abt.1752-1821), was born at Annaside, two miles north-west of Whitbeck, Cumberland, England, and was baptised at St Mary's Church, Whitbeck on 26 April 1784.[1][2]

In 1805, 21 year old Margaret had an illegitimate son, Thomas, supposedly the son of Thomas Proctor..

  • Thomas Brownrigg (1805-)[3] Thomas was named as a beneficiary in Margaret's mother's Will.[4]

Twenty six year old Margaret married James Burrow (also Barow) on 13 June 1810 at St Cuthbert, Kirkby Ireleth, Lancashire, England. The marriage was witnessed by Isaac Janes and her brother William.[5] Children (unconfirmed) from this marriage were:

  • Elizabeth Burrow (1810-)
  • Eleanor Burrow (1812-)
  • Thomas Burrow (1815-)
  • John Burrow (1817-)
  • Mary Burrow (1822-)

Margaret was named in her father's 13 May 1815 Will:

I likewise give and bequeath unto my Daughters Eleanor Douglass, Mary Brownrigg, and Margaret Burrow the like full and just Sum of One hundred Pounds each, of like lawful money...[6]

In 1841, Margaret, James, an agricultural labourer, and their son James were at Lopper Garth, Pennington, Ulverston, Cumberland, England.[7] In 1851, Margaret and James, a Farm Labourer, were at Graythwaite Hall Lodge, Satterthwaite, Ulverston, Cumberland, England.[8] In 1861, Margaret and James, with occupation Gardener Or Labourer, were in Pennington, parish of Ulverston, Cumberland, England.[9]

Margaret died on 11 April 1866 at Loppergarth, Pennington, Lancashire, England at age 82 of senile decay.[10] She was buried in Pennington on 14 April 1866.[11]

    I wish all my Funeral and testamentary Expenses to be paid out of my personal Estate and effects by my Executors and Trustees, and as to the personal Property, I give the same unto Richard Brownrigg of Annaside my Son and James Douglass of Egremont, Grocer my son in Law, as Executors in Trust that they will dispose of all my Household Goods and furniture and after deducting my Funeral and Testamentary Expenses I Will that the principal be put out to interest, and the interest to accumulate and be added to the principal until my Grandson, Thomas the natural Son of my Daughter Margaret now Margaret Burrow the wife of James Burrow be of the age of Twenty one years, to whom I give the whole with the accumulated Interest.
    And in Case the said Thomas should die before he attains the age of twenty one years then my Will is that the Sum become the property of my son Richard Brownrigg.
    In witness I have set my hand and seal to this my last Will and Testament this Third day of December One thousand Eight Hundred and twenty.

    First I give and bequeath unto my Sons Turner and Richard Brownrigg One hundred Pounds each and I likewise give and bequeath unto my Daughters Eleanor Douglass, Mary Brownrigg, and Margaret Burrow One hundred Pounds each to be respectively paid at the expiration of twelve months after my decease.
