Biography

Sophia Browne was born around the year 1830 in Dallington, Sussex, England to Charles Browne and Elizabeth Perry. She was baptised on 8 Dec 1833 at St Giles church in Dallington.^[1]

Her father had been transported to Australia in 1832. She never saw him again.

In 1841, she was living with her mother in Burwash, Sussex.^[2]

By 1861, she was living in Battle, Sussex and working as a housekeeper for James Reynolds.^[3] In 1871, she is still living with James but now she is working as a dressmaker.^[4]

Sophia married James Reynolds on 18 Apr 1876 at All Saints church in Hastings, Sussex.^[5][6]

She lived in Hastings for the rest of her life.^[7]

Sophia Reynolds died in the third quarter of 1893 in Hastings, Sussex.^[8] She was approximately 65 years old.
