William was born in 1897. He was the son of John Brown and Mary Ralston. [1]

BROWN - William R. Brown, 66, 2316 Quincy St., died at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 1964, in his home after a short illness. Born April 19, 1897, in Caledonia, Ill., son of John and Mary Brown. Lived nine years in Rockford, coming here from Rochelle.
Married the former Mary Cummings in Argyle Dec. 17, 1921. She died in 1959.
He was a retired grocer. Member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Dr. Raymond Brown, San Francisco, Calif., and Carleton Brown, with the Army at Ft. Gordon, Ga.; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Wright, St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, David C., Belvidere; a sister, Mrs. Eleanor Ralston, Rockford; two grandchildren, Terry and David Wright, St. Louis; and several nieces and nephews.
Services at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 28, in BURPEE-WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 420 N. Main St., with the Rev. Dr. James B. Adamson, officiating. Burial in Scottish Cemetery, Argyle. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday.[4]
William and Mary are second cousins once removed. Charles Brown is the great grandfather of William and the second great grandfather of Mary.
