Biography

Charles Robert Brown was born on August 20, 1876, to George Washington Brown and Keziah Delano (Bradley) Brown of Sumner Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota.[1]

On June 7, 1880, Charles was three years old and living with his parents and four older siblings - Mary (12), Emily (10), Birney (7) and Bertha (6) - in the Village of Chatfield in Olmstead County, Minnesota.[2] Charles's father George listed his occupation on that year's census as farmer.[2]

In 1899, Charles married Ethel Scaman, an immigrant from English Canada.[3]

In 1900, Charles (23) and Ethel (20) lived with their son George (1) on their farm in rural Shaokatan Township, Lincoln County, Minnesota. Charles listed his occupation as farming.[3]

In 1910, "Charley" (34) and Ethel (30) lived with their four children - George (11), Fern (6), Gladys (3) and Ada (7 months) - on a farm they rented in rural Drammen Township, Lincoln County, Minnesota.[4]

Charles passed away on July 14, 1914, in Brookings, Brookings County, South Dakota, at the age of 37.[1] He is buried in Fairview Cemetery, White, Brookings County, South Dakota.[1]

Brown-83308 and Brown-79189 do not represent the same person because: False matches with Herbert Horsley Brown of Holme on Spalding Moor were made when the profile was imported with middle name and place of birth missing and forename misread by the census transcriber as Robert, not Herbert.
