Movie and television actress whose roles included Sergeant Pepper Anderson in the television series Police Woman
Angie Brown was born in 1931. Her parents are Leo Henry Brown and Frederica Hehr. [1] [2] She became Angie Dickinson in 1952 when she married football player Gene Dickinson. [3] She later married composer, Burt Bacharach on 15 May 1965.[4] Lea Nikki Bacharach was a child of their marriage.

On New Year's Eve 1954, she made her television acting debut in an episode of Death Valley Days. She appeared in many anthology series during the 1950s, before gaining her 1956 breakthrough role in Gun the Man Down (1956) with James Arness. In the Western film Rio Bravo in 1959 with John Wayne, she received the Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year. She appeared in over 50 films in her career.
In March 1974, she appeared in an episode of the critically acclaimed hit anthology series Police Story. As her appearance was so popular, she received her own television show that became a ground-breaking weekly series called Police Woman. The show was the first successful dramatic TV series to feature a woman in the title role. She became a household name portraying Sergeant Suzanne "Pepper" Anderson. She received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Drama and three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series nominations for her work in Police Woman. The Police Woman series resulted in a surge of applications for employment from women in police departments in the United States.
