(Ensign) Richard Brown III was born about 1650 in Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts (or Southold, Suffolk County, New York by another record).
He was named lieutenant of a foot company for the County of Suffolk, Isaac Arnold being Captain, 8 Oct. 1686 (from “Cutchogue, Southold’s First Colony, Wayland Jefferson, 1940, pg. 135)
He married Dorothy King of Southold, New York, in May 1683 in Southold, New York (or Salem, Massachusetts by another record). They had eight children and lived in Southold, where all the children were born.
Richard died 11 JUL 1701 in Oysterponds, now called Orient, Suffolk County, New York.
