Phil Brown was an American actor who performed on the stage and in the movies until he was blacklisted by Hollywood. He returned years later, and became well-known for his portrayal of Uncle Owen Lars the relative of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: A New Hope.
Philip Mortimer Brown was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on April 30, 1916. He was the son of Dr. Walter Henry Brown and Ella Mood Walp. The family moved to Connecticut by 1917, and then to Palo Alto, California between 1920 and 1930.
Phil was the husband of Virginia "Ginny" May Sharpe.
His most famous acting job was his role as Owen Lars, Luke Skywalker's uncle, in Star Wars (1977).[1]
