Charles Stewart Brown MM was born on 27th September 1912 in Bristol, Somerset, England, United Kingdom.

Charles was awarded the Military Medal (MM) for 'courageous behaviour and determination in escape from Greece'; gazetted on 24th September 1942. By the time of the presentation at Government House Sydney on 15th March 1950 Charles was living at 6 Moruben Road, Mosman, on Sydney's North Shore. [3][4] He was also Mentioned in Despatches (equivalent to today's Commendation for Gallantry) for 'gallant and distinguished service in the South West Pacific Area'; gazetted on 23rd December 1943. [5][6]
Following commissioning and subsequent promotion to Captain, Charles was discharged on 31st March 1945. [1] He was issued the campaign and service medals, 1939-1945 Star, Africa Star, Pacific Star, Defence Medal, War Medal 1939-1945 and Australia Service Medal 1939-1945.
