Biography

WILLIAM BROWN, reportedly b. Jan 1702, married ANN HALES, and lived then Stafford County along Occoquan, Powell's Run, Broad Run, Champs Mills Branch. Initial 212 acres purchased April 1726 from Leonard Barker. Children were probably born in Stafford county, Virginia.

  • William Brown, born 1724, died January 16, 1897, in Prince William county, Virginia [1] William married May 1757 Elizabeth (Byrn) Buckner, widow of Anthony Buckner. Elizabeth was daughter to George Byrn, land surveyor, who was also William's guardian.
  • John, born March 25, 1730, in Virginia, died in Caswell county, North Carolina, owner of the Brown–Graves House and Brown's Store, near Locust Hill, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. [2]

William and Anne died about 1741 and are buried on one acre plot on Independent Hill, now Prince William County. on land reserved by their son William Brown. At the time of their deaths, their three orphaned sons became wards of George Byrn(e) and Cuthbert Harrison, on 23 July 1744.
