Biography

William Brown was born about 1811; two records show his birthplace as Ireland or Northern Ireland, while another -- the death record for a son -- suggests New York, and an online secondary source (a Hatch family genealogy) offers a birth at Londonderry, Vermont, on 12 July of 1810. He married Lydia Hatch at Hebron, New York (a town on the New York-Vermont state line) in October of 1835, and the couple ultimately made their home in Ridott, Illinois. William Brown died at Ridott in mid-September of 1872.
