According to Appletons' Cyclopedia of American Biography [1], John was born in 1738, died 8 Aug 1810. He was a member of the New York State constitutional convention in 1777, and would later serve as Lieutenant Governor of New York State in 1804-1810, where he died in office. About 1762, this brother John and Samuel joined in partnership to import British goods [2]. Broome County, New York is named in his honor.
