1747, May 25. Brokaw,, Abraham, of Somerset Co., miller; will of. Wife, Mary. Sons—Isaac, Bergone, Abraham, George, Christopher and John. Daughters—Catherine Vannest. Mary Defreest, Jane and Engeltje. Plantation of 306 acres on Millstone River, said plantation to be divided among six sons. Also V2 of a grist mill and 2 acres belonging thereto. Executors—son-in-law, Jeronimus Vannest, and "Cosyne" John Brokaw. Witnesses—Pieter Strycker, John Vanneste, Maregritje Bruwer. Proved 9 Sept., 1747, and Oct., 1747. Lib. E, p. 93. 1747. Aug. 19. Inventory of real and personal estate £1356.8.8, includes large Dutch Bible, £3 ; silver cup, £1.4. ; "Christofel's wearing apperrel, who being deceased," £1.2 ; "Engeltje's wearing apperrel, who being deceased" £5 ; steer belonging to Mary Deforsest, £1.15 ; half of grist mill, with 2 acres. £234.8.9; bond of Isaac Brokaw, £3.10. That lunacy hearing appears,to have been in about 1835. If so, that's a later generation of the family, methinks.

BROKAW, age 35, also a brother, and MARY, wife of DERRICK KERSHAW; ELIZA, age 52, wife of JAMES STAATS, ELSY, age 32, wife of HENRY STAATS; PHEBE ANN, age 24, wife of SAMUEL CRYZER, all sisters of John. Decision May 19th , 1835. All the neighbours signed as jurors. Bk. A p. 292.

Broucard-12 and Brokaw-287 appear to represent the same person because: The two abraham's are the same, with the only difference being the spelling of their last name.
