Biography

Church of Ireland Clergy

George was born in 1797. He was the son of Charles Brodrick and Mary Woodward.

He was collated Prebendary of Killardriffe (Cashel) on 2 April 1822, installed next day. He resigned in 1823, and accepted preferment in England.

He was Rector of Titsey

He died in 1861.

Death Notice - Saunders's News-Letter June 4, 1861 Death of the Hon. and Rev. Brodrick.— The Hon. and Rev. George Brodrick, whose death is announced, was the heir presumptive to the viscounty of Midleton. He was born April 23, 1797, and was the second son of the Hon. and Most Rev. Charles Brodrick, D.D., Archbishop of Cashel by Mary, daughter of the Right Rev Richard Woodward D.D. Bishop of Cloyne. He was educated at Eton and Oriel College, Oxford, graduating B.A. in 1817 and M.A. in 1822. In 1842 he was presented by Mr William Leveson Gower to the Rectory of Titsey, Surrey, value £290 and population 155. On the death of his cousin, the fifth viscount in 1848 (when his elder brother Charles succeeded to the Viscountcy), the late Mr Brodrick and his brother and sister were raised to the rank of Viscount's sons and daughters by royal warrant. Having died unmarried the rev gentleman is succeeded as heir presumptive to Viscount Midleton, by his next brother the Hon and Rev W. J. Brodrick, M.A. Canon of Wells, who has a large family.
