Wedding
News extract from Clifton Society, 15 September 1910:
Miss Carissima Blood’s wedding to Captain R.N.E. Brocklebank, of the 9th Lancers, takes place to-day (Wednesday), at St. Matthew’s, Great Peter-street, Westminster. The bride-elect is the only surviving daughter of General Sir Bindon and Lady Blood, whilst Captain Brocklebank is the younger son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Brocklebank, of Wateringbury, Kent. Miss Blood is a notable sportswoman and tiger-shot, and has accounted for much big game during her last year or two in India. On completing his time in command of the Northern Army of India Sir Bindon Blood went on the retired list, and he and his wife settled down at a pleasant flat in St. James’s-court. General Sir Bindon Blood was one of Lord Kitchener’s most trusted lieutenants, and, like that fine soldier, he began his career in the Engineers. Sir Bindon Blood, who comes of an old Irish family, married a daughter of that ex-keeper of the outposts of the Empire[,] the late Sir Auckland Colvin. On her way home from India Lady Blood had the misfortune to be robbed of her jewels.[13]
