Frances was born about 1787 per New York and Michigan census records. Her husband John's pension file and son William McArthur's death record also put her birth around 1787. ^{[1] [2]}

Frances Britton married John McArthur on 6 Aug 1804 in Chittenango, Madison, New York by a methodist minister. ^[3]

Frances and John had the following children:

~ Lucretia born between 1810-1820 in New York (1850 - 1870 Census). Married Alva Squires.

~ Peter B. born 5 JAN 1816 in Syracuse, Onondaga, New York - 07 JAN 1886 in Eaton Rapids, Eaton, Michigan. Married Catharine Raymond.

~ Lavinia born 1820 in Manlius, Onondaga, New York (1855 & 1860 NY Census). Died 27 Sep 1913 in Toledo, Lucas, Ohio. Married John Flint.

Frances and John are living in Porter New York during the 1850 Census. ^[4] After John died in 1852, Frances bounced back and forth between New York ^[5] and Michigan. ^[6] She's last found on the 1870 Census in Eaton, Michigan living with her daughter Lucretia Squires. ^[7] According to her son Stephan 'Decatur' McArthurs death record, Frances died in Eaton County Michigan. ^[8]
