George was born January 23, 1854 in Lake Stream, Kent County, New Brunswick. He was a son of Stephen Smith Briggs and Amanda P. (Bennison) Briggs.[1] His father was a farmer in the Harcourt area. He was one of a large family.
He married Sarah Jane Burpee on October 28, 1884 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. She was the daughter of Isaac C. Burpee and Sarah Jane (Dymond) Burpee, farmers in Gaspereau Forks, Chipman Parish. George thereafter took up a farm of his own in the Chipman area and raised a family.[1]
George passed away in 1918 and is interred at the at the First Chipman United Baptist Cemetery in Gaspereau Forks, Chipman Parish, New Brunswick.[2]
