Biography

Britta was born in 1754 on Brekke farm in Fjelberg clerical district in Hordaland, Norway. She was the daughter of Ingebrigt Simonsen (Hammersland) Brekke and Signe Olsdatter Fatland. When she was 19 years old, she married Hans Storkorsen (Holverholm) Hope in 1773 in Fjelberg. She joined her husband to farm at Hope in Vikebygd, which fell under the Stord clerical district at the time. They had two children together. Her husband died in 1806. Britta remained at Hope, dying there in 1838 at the age of 84. She was buried in Stord.

Britta's birth record does not explicitly mention her birthplace, but it is assumed to be Brekke since her preceding and next siblings were reported born there as indicated by her father being recorded as Ingebrigt Brekke (Breche).
