Uncertain Parents

Note: Not sure if the year of Birth of Simon is correct, but because of the year of Birth (in all the online genealogies as well) it seems to be impossible he was a son of the supposed parents, because supposed father Siegfried van Holland was born abt 980 in Gent, and died in June 1030 Thetburgia van Staveren was born about 987 and she died in 1041...so instead of connecting them there are name links added to the txts in the Bio's of them all now...
"According many online genealogies, unfortunately none citing sources though, so here's a bit more info that probably explains why it's assumed, his parents were Siegfried van Holland born abt 980 in Gent, and Thetburgia van Staveren. Thetburga (-1042) the wife of Siegfried van Holland (he died 5 juni 1030), brother of the Dutch Count Dirk III Hierosolymita (died 27 mei 1039). This according to a very dubious mention in the fifteenth-century chronicle De origine et Rebus gestis Dominorum de Brederode (On the origin and deeds of the lords of Brederode) by Johannes a Leydis, she was a daughter of the sixth Frisian potestate Gozewijn (also called Gooswijn or Goswinus) van Staveren (989-1000). [1] Thetburga met her future husband Siegfried van Holland (Sicco) in Kastrichem (Castricum). Siegfried van Holland was the younger brother of Dirk III, and the son of Arnulf van Gent and Lutgardis van Luxemburg.
Their wedding plans were not well received by Count Dirk III of Holland (-27 May 1039). The already tense relationships between the two brothers were further put under pressure by this. The reason given is the large class difference. Eventually the dispute was settled and the marriage was consummated. Thetburga was buried twelve years after her husband in the monastery of Egmond (then still called Hallem or Hallum).

During archaeological research in 1980 her bones were examined from the graves present there. Thetburga turned out to be small in size: 155 cm long. She had a complicated elbow fracture, hip fracture, severe bone decalcification with leg atrophy (shrinkage from food supply failure). She had arthropathy (joint disease) and gout of the feet.

Thetburga was reburied on October 8, 1980. The monks of the monastery in Egmond pray in a solemn mass for the peace of mind of her and Othilde of Saxony, the wife of Dirk III and brother of Siegfried.

On the basis of the mention of the ancestry by Johannes a Leydis Siegfried (Sicco) van Holland and Thetburga formerly for the ancestors of the lords of Brederode and Teylingen. As children of Siegfried and Thetburga, Dirk and Simon are mentioned. Dirk would then have succeeded his father Siegfried as second lord of Brederode and Simon as first lord of Teylingen. Since the middle of the nineteenth century, no credence has been given to this view. The ancestor of the Brederodes, Dirk Drossaard van Brederode, does not appear in charters until 1205. One of the towers of the Ruins of Brederode in Santpoort is named after Thetburga. Thetburga is also associated with the name of the genus Tetrode or Tetterode."[2]
"Siegfried van Holland and Thetburga van Staveren met each other in Kastrichem (Castricum) and were married there in the year 1000. Siegfried was also the first to be called Brederode. Johannes a Leydis writes this around 1486 in his chronicle De origine et Rebus gestis Dominorum de Brederode. Although Siegfried and Thetburga actually existed (he lived from 980 to 1030, they from 985 to 1042 and both are buried in the Abbey of Egmond), it is strongly doubted whether what is told about them in the said chronicle is correct."
In the narrative poem De Lijfknaap van Castricum, the Alkmaar poet and writer Willem Hofdijk made his own version of their romance in 1850. Gozewijn, the old father of Thetburga, in this poem is the lord of the 'high House of Castricum' (Kronenburg)" [3]

"A few very special archaeological excavations were carried out in 1980 in Egmond. The skeleton of Count Floris l, among others, which turned out to be more than two meters long, has been investigated. And also the bones of Thetburga, after whom the Van Tetrode and Tettero family may have been named, was also examined. The conclusions are quite amazing.
Thetburga lived no less than 1000 years ago. Yet there are still stories known about her. She was born in or around the year 987 and probably got married before she was 18 years old. Thetburga is the mother of Dirk, the second lord of Brederode, and Simon, the first lord of Teilingen. She became 53 or 54 years old, according to publications in 1991 after the excavations in Egmond. Her husband Sicco is a younger brother of the Count of Holland. Sicco is buried twelve years before the day of his wife's death. Both suffer from syphilis, the cause of which was unknown at the time and those days it wasn't really special the alternating sexual contacts were also not associated with disease due to the long incubation period (several years).. With the latest knowledge it has become clear that Sicco was infected in the year 1027. Three years later he dies. Thetburga became infected shortly after Sicco. But she lived much longer...The research also showd that Thetburga was small: 155 cm long. She had a complicated fracture on her elbow, a hip fracture, severe osteoporosis with leg atrophy (shrinkage due to disorder in the food supply). She had an athropathy (joint disease) and gout on the feet. "[4]

In the second online genealogie you cite to for leads,

https://www.genealogieonline.nl/stamboom-roodenburg/I512275.php

there sure seems like errors of confusion with Sijmon I Sigfridsz (geb 1006) married to Aleida Jansdr van Altena, two generations later followed by Sijmon II Sigfridsz (geb 1066, not 1090) also married to a Aleida (Ada) Jansdr van Altena.

I have a slightly different (but also poorly or un documented) construction of the family. The "missing" links at least make sense from a chronological standpoint. Only I have him as Sifrid Symonsz. (geb 1040). More like this

https://www.genealogieonline.nl/stamboom-van-dam-best-de-jong-storm/I1153.php This author apparently isn't clear on which of the two is the correct husband of Aleida Jansdr.
