1564 18 May Richard Brand married Jane Mallery[1]
From 1571-1576 he was excommunicated no less than 13 times. on one occasion told to hold a white wand etc in the church during divine service and to confess his faults and negligence. [2]

Research Notes
Avice, John, Christopher and Richard Brand were contemporaries in Earls Colne and although their relationship to each other is not defined, they are most likely siblings except Avice who may have been a sister in law. She was widowed with the Brand surname. The men share a contempt for authority being frequently excommunicated. There are also no other Brand families in Earls Colne. They may be detached should better information become available.
