Biography

Arthur Bradshaw is a part of US Black heritage.

Arthur was born in 1899 in Virginia. He is the son of Edmond Bradshaw and Rachel Howard.^[1]

In 1900 at age 11 he was living in Maiden Spring, Virginia with his widowed mother and siblings.^[2]

In 1920 at age 31 he was living with his widowed mother, a sister and her children in Graham, Virginia.^[3]

Arthur served as a cook with the U.S. Army 511th Engineers over in France during World War I.^[4][5] On military passenger list in 1919, his wife's name was listed as Katherine Graham.

Arthur married Vivian Goodman in 1922 in Mercer County, West Virginia.^[6]

In 1930 he was listed in the census as living with his mother and two children in Clear Fork, Virginia where he was a baker.^[7] However, he was also listed in the census with wife Vivian and 3 children in Clear Fork, working as a barber.^[8]

Arthur passed away later in 1930 in Norfolk, Virginia.^[9]He was buried in Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, Virginia.^[10] His occupation was listed as barber on his death certificate.
